TITLE: Uptown Nørrebro - student housing in Borgmestervangen
TYPE OF JOB: Urban strategic analysis
CUSTOMER: Danica Ejendomme
WITH: 2+1 Idébureau and Arkitema

Project Summary

Danica Ejendomme is building housing for more than 500 students in the Borgmestervangen area close to Nørrebro Station in Copenhagen. The project is ambitious, distinctive and it includes the construction of a 100m-tall housing tower with a public viewing pavilion on the roof. In order to qualify the project prior to the drafting of a local plan for the area, Danica Ejendomme hired Hauxner to draw up an urban strategic analysis of the project. The objective was to ensure that the project creates a good, socially sustainable environment in which to live and support a positive development in Outer Nørrebro.

  • The analysis of the challenges and potentials inherent to the project.

  • Recommendations to the qualification of the project prior to the preparation of the local plan.

  • Recommendations to the further project development, including the profile, establishment of social traditions, organization and operation of student housing.

  • Facilitation of dialogue between the developer, local authority and local stakeholder

It made a big difference for the project that we had Hauxner as our urban strategic consultant. Among other things, Katinka Hauxner got me to see the value of active and public ground floors in our development projects. I am working with this in all of our current projects.
